Summer vacation is here! The summer vacation in North America already started, but for us here in The Netherlands it has not started yet. On the Rijksoverheid website you can find the different dates for each region (north, middle and south). We are lucky this year and are the first ones to start with summer vacation today! Can you imagine, my friend who lives 50 min away from us doesn’t start her vacation until July 22! Okay anyway, I’m posting here today for a different reason. Today I want to share a free travel journal Italy for kids.
Over the past couple of years I’ve made our kids Travel Journals. It’s nothing fancy but our kids love drawing in them, decorating the front and writing something everyday.

Their journals do not always look like this! There are also plenty of blank pages or very simple drawings that have not been coloured in. That’s okay! It’s supposed to be fun and something they can look back to and remember things they did or loved from the vacation.
Why use a Travel Journal for Kids?
Remember
I started making the travel journals for kids because it’s a good way to remember what you did every day. People are so forgetful and we tend to forget even what we did yesterday let alone 10 days ago. By writing just a little note every day you can read back all the activities you did and not forget.
Learn
A travel journal is a great way to learn about the country you are visiting. If you are abroad, you can learn some basic sentences in the local language; you can learn geography, history or other cultural facts.
Fun
Our kids love to draw so it becomes a pleasant activity to draw something each day. Buy them a new set of pencils and colouring pencils (or some fancy glittery ones) and make it extra enjoyable. It also gives a certain routine where everyday they take 5 or 10 minutes to write or draw in their travel journal.
This year I made an Travel Journal Italy for our kids and I’m offering a free download for families with children that are also travelling to Italy. I used some free printables (word search and colouring page) from this amazing website about Italy. If you are interested in traveling to Italy you should definitely check out her website!
